Journalist in peril

     In Mrs Turner class this semester we learned about Lasantha wicrematunge and Daniel pearl.  Wickrematunge was shot while he was on his way to work around 10:30 a.m. on 8 January 2009.  Four armed assassins riding motorcycles blocked Wickrematunge's vehicle before breaking open his window and shooting him.  He was taken to the Colombo South General Hospital.  I thought because he went out with no security maybe he was ready to die so i think his death was planned.
    Daniel Pearl was a journalist and his wife was also.  On January 23, 2002, on his way to what he thought was an interview with sheike The group claimed Pearl was a spy and—using a hot mail email account.  sent the United States a range of demands, including the freeing of all Pakistan.  In my opinion i think that the be heading was too far.  Also they had no reason for kidnapping him.
      

what i learned this year

This year I learned about ethics.  While learning ethics we watched the movie "Shattered Glass," that's about a young journalist that plagiarized.  Then we learned how to write different leads like blind leads, startling leads, and narrative leads.  Using those skills, we applied it to writing a short story on Hurricane Sandy and Christmas.
